Your Plate. Your Health. focuses on changing the environment at restaurants, targeting people of all ages, to increase the availability of healthy foods and to educate consumers about which options really are healthy.
Through a collaboration with Henry County Health Center we use a registered dietitian to perform a Nutrition Environment Measures Survey (NEMS) restaurant assessment to evaluate factors believed to contribute to food choices in restaurants, including availability of more healthy foods, facilitators and barriers to healthy eating, pricing, and signage/promotion of healthy and unhealthy foods.
Criteria for designating healthy food and beverage options were derived from government recommendations for a healthful diet.
