We also do:

  • Guidance for risk exposure to rabies due to an animal bite or contact with a bat and provide information on proper post exposure treatment.
  • Communicable disease follow-up – includes responding to cases of infectious diseases like tuberculosis, measles, pertussis, hepatitis, or foodborne illnesses. Public Health works with partners to quickly identify and report diseases, track how they may be spread, and take action to prevent more people from getting sick. This work helps keep schools, workplaces, and communities healthy and safe.
  • Community outreach and education – we provide presentations to schools, businesses, civic groups and more about health topics or areas of concern.
  • Emergency preparedness – Public Health works to be prepared to respond to a range of public health threats, including but not limited to infectious diseases, natural disasters, and biological, chemical, and radiological events. We do this through planning, training, and exercise efforts with other agencies in our region.
  • Tuberculosis testing & medication monitoring – we provide TB skin tests. If there is a case of active tuberculosis we investigate and locate any individuals exposed. We work closely with the state and provide medication as needed for treatment or prevention measures.
  • Wellness collaboration and outreach – in partnership with Healthy Henry County Communities.
